A variety of federal regulations as well as legislation passed by the different emirates control sports law in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The government Decree-Law No. 8 of 2014 on the Regulation of Sports Activities is the primary government statute controlling sports.
The rights and responsibilities of athletes, coaches, and sports federations are all outlined in this
legislation, along with the basic guidelines for UAE sports law.
Other federal laws, such the Law on the Prevention of Violence and Misconduct in Sports, Federal Law No. 14 of 2016, and the Law on the Protection of Sports Persons, Federal Law No. 15 of 2016, may also be applicable to sports law.
Although the UAE’s sports law is still developing, it is obvious that the government is dedicated to fostering an atmosphere that is fair and competitive for sports.
Courts and sports federations both enforce the sports legislation. The courts have the authority to interpret and enforce sports legislation and to grant compensation to injured or unfairly
treated athletes.
The ability to control athletic competitions and punish athletes who break the rules belongs to the sports federations.
